After the Vision Pro being the first Apple product to launch in 2024, this week we could see the launch of a few more. They are on new iPads and Macs that, unlike the Vision Pro, these would be launched in all the usual territories and not just the United States. Of course, this won’t be done at a special event.
Already in October, some leakers had reported new iPads, although Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman denied it. Exactly this leak is the one who now warns that it could be this week when Apple launches these expected productsnotably the iPad, since Apple has not launched a single new tablet in all of 2023.
Up to four new iPads which are already showing their paws after a blank year
In recent months, we’ve seen plenty of indications that we’ll finally see new iPads in March. Looming over that was the possibility that they would be presented at a special event. Nothing could be further from the truth, because even though there are several models and it is accompanied by other devices that would be presented at the same time, leakers like Mark Gurman exclude it completely.
As it stands, it looks like they will be launched via a press release. Of course, among all those expected, Gurman only mentions these:
- iPad Pro 2024: we would see two new iPads of 11 and 12.9 inches with M3 processors and with OLED panels as the big novelty, thus leaving IPS-LCD technology in the small model and miniLED in the large one. Likewise, there would be design changes, although it is not yet known to what extent, beyond the fact that they will be much thinner devices than previous generations.
- iPad Air 6: unlike the ‘Pro’, the ‘Air’ range would not bring a new design, but it would have a new processor ranging from the M1 chip to the M2 chip. Although the big news of this generation is that we will see up to two sizes of iPad with a 10.9 to 11 inch model as usual as well as another new size of 12.9 inches, leaving us in terms of size the iPad Air and iPad Pro offer identical possibilities.
Nothing is mentioned about the 11th generation iPad or a new iPad mini, so they are not expected yet. However, there is long-awaited iPad accessories which would also be renewed on these dates:
- Apple Pencil 3: the third iteration of the Apple stylus would also arrive this week, six years after the Apple Pencil 2. It should share the same design idea with this one, but with magnetic and interchangeable tips, as well as an improvement in response time.
- New Magic Keyboard: It hasn’t been specified too much about what Apple’s new official keyboard for iPad will look like, although it’s rumored that it could have a larger trackpad and improved build materials to make it more durable.
MacBook Air will receive the new M3 chip
At the end of October, the iMac and MacBook Pro were renewed, bringing with them the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. However, the “Airs” were stuck in the M2. Everything indicates that the time has come to the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air receive this M3 core processor.
Otherwise, no design change. It’s unclear if they will introduce a new color or other similar change, but no major aesthetic changes are expected. It was precisely in the M2 generation that the form factor was redesigned and the large 15-inch model was introduced and knowing that Apple usually lasts the same design for several years, this year it is not the case .
There is also other Macs awaiting renewal like the Mac Studio 2024, Mac Pro 2024 and Mac mini 2024. However, nothing is said about them, so their renewal could take place by the end of the year or at the earliest during the year. ‘summer.
New spring colors for accessories and… also the new iPhone 15?
In anticipation of spring, we always tend to see small but interesting launches in terms of colors. This year will be no exception and there are already rumors new colors for Apple Watch bands and iPhone 15 cases, even if we do not know exactly what they will be. While these aren’t worthy of a press release on their own, they would debut on the Apple Store.
More innovative would be the introduction of a new color for the latest iPhone, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. In recent years we have seen this with options such as the green iPhone 13 or the yellow iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, both new at launch and presented in March. For the iPhone 15, there’s no indication that this will happen, nor what colors would debut, so we’ll have to keep an eye out.
Regarding specific dates, Gurman did not predict an exact day. He limited himself to pointing out that it will be this month of March and giving hints that it could happen this week. So, from today until Friday, the surprise could arise. In fact, we could have outings over several days instead of cramming them all into one. We will see.
