Google offers many free applications that perform essential functions in our daily lives, although one of the least talked about applications is Google Drive, and for good reason; it is a cloud file storage service, so as long as the files are not deleted, users do not usually ask for much more.

But even storage services have competition, and Google Drive has now been updated with important new features that will make its use much easier. Some of these new features are already arriving to Drive users in Europe, while others may take some time because they require the use of artificial intelligence.

On the one hand, the redesign of Google Drive is the most obvious change at first glance, although it is not entirely new, since it was launched a few months ago in the United States; However, Drive users in Europe are already beginning to see the new interface when they access the Service’s website.

The Google Drive redesign doesn’t completely break with the look it had before, but users will notice slight changes to buttons, menus, and other aspects of the interface that make the website more similar to the Android app. The dark mode has also changed and is now easier on the eyes.

Without a doubt, the biggest difference is in the search bar, which is now in the center instead of at the top. The reason for this change is that Google wants to give more priority to search algorithms. A “Welcome to Drive” message appears at the top, and below the search bar we will find new controls to define it, such as the type of file we are looking for, who is the creator or when it was modified.

Another detail that we will immediately notice is that, from now on, Google Drive will display the main pageinstead of entering directly into the My Drive section. This is important because now the first thing we will see are the suggestions, and this is where another novelty comes in. Google has improved the suggestions of Google Drive, using factors such as recent activity, documents we have shared or even associated Google Calendar events.

In Europe, for now we only have this vision; But in the United States, a new Google Drive home page has been launched, which shows suggestions for folders and files, allowing us to access immediately and at any time what we need.
