Assembly
You will receive two boxes at home, probably from two different shipments. The box with the board has all the necessary protections so that it is not damaged, the packaging in this sense is perfect. The other box with the metal frame and legs is smaller but much heavier, so it is best that you receive it where you are going to assemble the table. It contains all the instructions for assembly, which is not complicated at all and can be done using a screwdriver. Of course, it’s much better if it’s electric, your wrist will appreciate it. Of course, it is best to have the help of another person to move the desk once assembled, as it is quite heavy.
One of the things I liked the most is the way it manages cables.. All cables for both motors (one for each leg) and controller are hidden in the central part of the structure, a detail that not all manufacturers fall into. As a cable freak, I of course added a cable management accessory to my setup, which I received in a separate box and takes minutes to install. The board doesn’t have any holes for accessories, so you’ll need a powerful enough electric screwdriver to screw them directly into the wood. All necessary screws are included in the box. The same goes for the metal drawer that I added to my order. The accessories do not have a fixed location, you can place it wherever you want: in the center, on the right, on the left… you decide.
You can see the whole assembly process in the video, and once finished you will be able to see that this E8 desk is really different in quality from what you usually find in stores like IKEA and others. Stable, robust, it does not move a millimeter when you write (not like the IKEA one) and with a capacity to support up to 125 kg of weight, it’s a desk for life. In fact, FlexiSpot offers you a 7-year warranty, a sign that they are sure of their quality.
Liftable desk
I’ve never had an elevator desk. I know the trend that many are now promoting regarding standing work, but it’s not for me. At least when it comes to spending hours in front of the computer. Another peculiarity is that it can sometimes be useful to have the possibility of raising the desk to carry out certain specific tasks. Another very interesting thing is being able to adjust the height of the desk to each person who uses it. In my house there are very different heights, ranging from 190 cm to 135 cm, and being able to adjust the height of the desk for working is quite comfortable.. In addition, having several memories allows you to quickly move from one height to another.
The manual adjustment is quite precise and the speed at which the desk raises or lowers is quite quick and quiet. It has an anti-collision system, so if it detects something that prevents it from moving freely, it will automatically stop. The LED screen shows you the height of the desk, and The locking system gives you peace of mind when there are children at home who may touch the buttons “without permission”. The controller can be placed on the left or right, and has a USB-A port that allows you to charge accessories such as the keyboard or mouse, or even your mobile phone. It doesn’t have fast charging, but it’s an element that is never left out.
Editor’s opinion
After many years of working in front of a desk which, for details, must be located in the living room, the decision was made to abandon affordable models which end up being more of a nuisance than a help. This E8 desk from Flexispot meets all the desk requirements you were looking for: stable, large, deep and designed to last for many years. The addition of motors was a plus that I hadn’t thought of, but which surprised me very pleasantly. It’s one of those things you don’t know you need until the day you try it. The quality is excellent in all respects: materials, finishes, construction… and it shows. The possibility of adding accessories is an additional plus, such as the drawer and the cable duct, both essential for me. You can create your own on FlexiSpot (link) and depending on the size and accessories the price varies, starting from $609.98 for the smallest size.
