The Xiaomi car was just the beginning. More and more technology manufacturers, particularly mobile ones, are considering expanding into the automotive sector; Although few people consider Xiaomi’s multi-million dollar investment, due to the risks involved, the preferred option is therefore to ally with a manufacturer already established in the market.
This is the strategy behind Huawei cars, which are the result of alliances with brands recognized in China; and it won’t be the only one. Today, OPPO announced a partnership with BYD, one of the largest electric car manufacturers, to enter the sector and provide its users with a new experience.
More specifically, the alliance focuses on “integration of smartphones and cars”according to an OPPO representative was able to confirm to EL ESPAÑOL – El Androide Libre. For starters, this will result in greater compatibility of OPPO mobile phones with BYD automotive systems; including the development of new hardware modules enabling integration with embedded systems and AI algorithms.
The ultimate goal of this alliance is to “advance the intelligent driving experience” through new innovations and greater integration with the industry. Therefore, OPPO does not want to talk at the moment about having its own car, but it already emphasizes that its goals are more ambitious than simply allowing connection to the mobile phone from the car.
BYD is one of the most talked about new Chinese brands of late, not least because it is one of the few to have expanded in the West. Actually, BYD already sells cars in Europewith a network of dealers which offers a range mainly composed of electric cars and a plug-in hybrid model. What they all have in common is a commitment to technology, with interiors dominated by touchscreens and new intelligent driving features.
The first result of this alliance will come with OPPO’s new mobile phone, the Find X8, whose launch is expected soon according to rumors and previews of the brand. This device will feature advanced wireless connectivity, allowing it to connect with the new BYD Denza Z9 GT launched last month in China.
Although this car model has not yet been presented in our country, OPPO and BYD remembered the global market, stating that in the future they will publish updates on this collaboration that can be enjoyed in Europe and in the rest of the world.
