Apple recently faced a new dispute over its four suppliers. The Australian Institute for Strategic Policies has released a report pointing to a number of factories in China, accusing them of using racial profiling in the country in this abusive way. A total of 83.
These are manufacturers that produce a large number of different technology components. Among them are O-Film Technology, BOE Technology Group, GoerTek and Foxconn; four suppliers that manufacture items such as cameras or iPhone screens for sale worldwide. In the case of Foxconn it was already to blame for the fact that the students were working overtime illegally.
Apple will take steps to ensure that its suppliers comply with the requirements
The details of the Center have been scrutinized by the Washington Post: apparently those suppliers will be using staff from The Uyghurs, the most oppressed Muslim group in China, brought directly from the concentration camps. There will be approximately 80,000 runners between 2017 and 2019. China has long been criticized by international authorities for oppressing the Muslim community, which is often sent to these camps for "re-education."
At Reuters they were able to contact Apple, who issued the following statement from their spokesman Josh Rosenstock:
Apple is trying to ensure that all employees who work with us are treated with dignity and respect for their work. We did not see this report, but we will work closely with all our suppliers to ensure our requests are fulfilled.
From Carlertino releasing quality reports regularly with their suppliers specifically to fight such incidents. The last one was officially published in early March of last year, so we shouldn't take the time to see the current one. Apple has always had high standards in terms of working conditions for its suppliers, so it is expected that from Apple Park the necessary steps will be taken to get the four companies involved to fix what has happened.
