After translating phone calls in real time, Galaxy AI is reportedly targeting WhatsApp calls
I had the chance to test the Samsung Galaxy S24 early on and the Live Translate features already seemed great to me. Especially applied to phone calls: using Galaxy AI in the phone app It’s like having an interpreter at our service. At any time.
Live Translate is available for calls as well as SMS. And not just in Samsung apps: Messages and WhatsApp They support automatic message translation from the beginning
According to Android Police, following information released by Ice Universe, WhatsApp is about to receive the instant call translation using Galaxy AI tools. This would expand the phone’s reach to third-party apps. And not limited to WhatsApp, instant call translation would reach other communication apps; like Google Meet or WeChat.
Since Android can detect a WhatsApp call as an audio (or audio and video) communication, Live Translate will give the ability to translate communications once the new feature is extended (probably with a small button integrated into the WhatsApp interface). For now it’s a leak, not yet available. It remains to be seen whether this is a feature of Samsung’s upcoming foldables or One UI 7.0. The next version of the layer would be ready to be extended with Android 15.
