GCam 8.8 stable and packed with improvements

Gcam, improvements, Packed, stable

Since the camera apps that come with Google Pixel are some of the best on any smartphone, why not try an adaptation that works on the rest of Android? Thanks to the GCam it is possible: the modification of the Google camera brings capture software to non-Pixel phones. Including newer versions like 8.8 of Shamim.

As Google officially updates the camera app for its Pixels, modders dedicated to offering their own version in the form of GCam are also doing the same. 8.8 is the newest of all, there are very good options for the vast majority of smartphones. We previously tested the one from BSG, one of the first to come out and which did not yet include the advanced configuration options usually found in the GCam. Shamim’s 8.8 is, on the other hand, super configurable.

The development of the GCam continues its course with the first modders releasing their own version of Google Camera 8.8. Arnova8G2, one of the most popular, still does not have its latest beta update, but the rest are gradually renewing their development. Shamim is among them: your GCam 8.8 is very complete.

Gcam: how to automatically have the best settings for your phone using XML files

Apart from updating the base of the application to the latest Google camera and including many advanced settings in its development, Shamim has released its 8.8 stable with the ability to configure each user’s XML. With this option, anyone can adapt the GCam to their device immediately and without complications: just download the XML from the phone and apply it in the GCam settings. By default, photos taken with the Shamim app are a bit dark on most phones, even with greenish tints; as we were able to verify after installing the app on our Xiaomi.

To download the XML file adapted to the phone, our recommendation is to go to this page of Celso Azevedo. Once you have the file on your mobile, move it to the “SGCAM/8.8.224/XML: Shamim’s GCam will automatically load the file after startup and restart with the most appropriate settings for the phone. According to our tests, it works fine; at least everything is correct that a modded google camera apk can work. XML not working for you or do you need a finer adjustment? Explore advanced settings until you get the results you need.

Shamim 8.8 stable is available for download on Celso Azevedo’s page. As is often the case with GCam, this will not work correctly on all Androids: you have to try your luck and adjust the parameters as much as possible. It’s also worth locating the rover configuration XML file that installs the GCam: apart from saving the job, the results are usually better.
