Anyone who uses email a lot at work (since it’s rarely used to communicate with friends or family) will be aware of the difficulty of responding to another’s response to an email. Yes, I was a bit confused writing it, imagine giving it a real response. In the end, it ends up being more of a thread of Twitter X than an email communication.
After one of the latest changes to Gmail, all of this is now diluted, fortunately for users. And this is a novelty that alleviates the problem I was talking about, yes, Google was in no hurry. I tell you How has the way I respond to emails changed?
Gmail is now a cat, and I’m happy about it
As I said, one of the latest developments that came to the Gmail app is the chat answers. This way, on any Android phone (for now), we can continue to check the email while we compose a reply.
A minor and unimportant change, at least it may seem… because For me, it was differential.: Now I don’t have to go back twenty times to remember what they replied to me and thus respond accordingly. No, I now have a Gmail that behaves like WhatsApp, that is, it allows me to see the conversation while I write.
Conversation? Weren’t we talking about emails? Internet communication has changed forever: thanks to instant messaging apps, which have spoiled us. And Google has been slow to respond (pun intended).
It’s not that I answer all emails from my mobile, not in vain, on my computer I have a larger screen and an interface that already met the condition of displaying the email to which I am answering.
As we can see from the screenshots that we leave above, the novelty has been called “quick answers”, which also does not remove the old interface: we have a “full screen” button
Personally, I would say that attach filesthere is no possibility to use the new chat type replies. I don’t need to see the file at the top, I want to continue replying to the email while looking at the original.
Google has chosen to keep the best of both worlds, and all I can do is wait for the next big step: the inclusion of Gemini, the AI that will compose emails for me. Times have changed at Google, I have no doubt and this change is further proof of that.
