Last year, Xiaomi presented the Xiaomi 13T series in Berlin with the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, its mid-range Google WearOS watch proposition. Later he put on sale, without much publicity, a version with better performance but also with a lower price. This is the Xiaomi Watch 2. This smartwatch complements other products in the catalog such as the Xiaomi Smart Band 9, a bracelet that has become the benchmark for this market in Europe.
On the occasion of the launch of the Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro, we were able to spend a week with the Xiaomi Watch 2, a watch that deserves much more attention than it receives, not only because it is a good product, but because it has a revolutionary price even on the Xiaomi website.
Its official cost is 199.99 dollars but you can buy it without looking too hard for 129.99 dollars And considering everything it offers, the cost seems too low. But there is no trick, it is simply a product with excellent quality-price ratio, as the Chinese company usually offers.
This watch has an elegant design,
This crown is silver in color in the unit given to us, and it comes with an off-white faux leather strap. Generic straps can be used, which will save us money by not having to buy straps that only work for this model, as is the case with other smartwatches. It has 5 ATM water resistance and a solid build that draws more attention when you think about the price of the watch itself.
A sure value
The screen measures 1.43 inches and has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, making it very easy to see, which is helped by the brightness of up to 600 nits. It’s not the highest on the market, but it saves you from having to look for shade on many occasions when using the watch outdoors. The processor is the Snapdragon W5+ Generation 1a chipset used by the best watches with Wear OS, which they accompany 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.
One of the strong points is undoubtedly the operating system. It comes with Wear OS version 3.5, not 4, which is one of the few drawbacks that can be found. This allows you to install applications such as Spotify or WhatsApp, in addition to being able to use Google Maps or pay with Google Wallet. Unlike other models equipped with this system, here it is the case we have Google Assistant as standardand it works perfectly. Of course, it is possible to install Alexa if desired, as in any other watch with this operating system. The only question is what Xiaomi’s update policy will be with its watches with WearOS.
It is possible to control your Xiaomi mobile to take photos use the watch itself as a viewfinder, or make calls without having to pick up the phone. Of course, it has fall detection and can call automatically if necessary. And there are hundreds of other apps to get the most out of your watch, like those that let you open your garage or house door.
But the star is the battery. Normally this type of watch arrives at the end of the day if we have not used them too intensively. In our case, the tests gave us around 2 days of autonomy with the same non-intense use. It does not reach the figures of the kings of the market, like the TicWatch 5 Pro or the OnePlus Watch 2, but it doubles that of its direct rivals like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. This can make the difference between having to recharge it at night or being able to do it at a specific time of the day, like when we take a shower. Additionally, the loading speed is decent.
Of course, integrates perfectly with Android thanks to the Mi Fitness application, which is Xiaomi’s application that controls its latest wearable devices. This application also allows us to ski using very precise data, in addition to being able to manage information on the routes that we have traveled with the watch, thanks to its dual-band GPS, or control the evolution of our parameters, such as the amount of oxygen in the blood, hours of sleep, calories burned, steps taken and much more. One of the expected absences is the EKG. This is one of those features that is found in more expensive models from other brands, but is not essential.
Should I buy it?
I have rarely had the answer to this question so quickly. If having to recharge the watch from time to time is not a problem There is no proposal with better value for money than this Xiaomi Watch 2 for sale in Europe. It’s not the most powerful watch, nor the cheapest, but it offers more for little money.
There are options with a lot more battery, like the Amazfit products, but they don’t have Wear OS and that will put off many. And there are watches that are more durable and have more aggressive aesthetics, like the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, but they cost between 6 and 7 times more. It’s not the same.
