Gemini is one of Google’s big bets. Its artificial intelligence is already present in several of its platforms, including the renewed virtual assistant which replaced Assistant. And AI is one of Google’s main ambitions for 2024, which is why it promises to integrate it into all of its products, or at least most of them.
Today, the company is working on integrate YouTube Music into the Gemini app, to offer a more personalized and intelligent experience when searching for music on this platform, which has become an increasingly attractive alternative, especially for YouTube Premium subscribers. At Android Authority they managed to test this new feature, revealing how it works.
Gemini artificial intelligence will also integrate YouTube Music
By having YouTube Music on Gemini, this will allow the app to do personalized and intelligent searches in the music service. For example, we can tell the app what type of music we want to listen to, based on our mood and other characteristics. The app will access our YouTube Music history to get information about our preferences.
This was revealed by the first images and tests of the YouTube Music extension in Gemini, shared by @AssembleDebug and Android Authority. In the images we can see YouTube Music available as an extension in the Gemini Android app, which can be activated.
After enabling it, the app will ask us for permission to connect our YouTube Music account to Gemini, in order to access our information, including our playback history, playlists, and music preferences and tastes. .
Once this process is complete, Gemini will be able to make suggestions and searches based on this information in conjunction with Google’s new AI. In the previous example we can see how they ask Gemini music recommendations based on mood “energetic and lively”, the system therefore recommends artists, playlists and radio stations related to this request and the user’s preferences.
Currently, the YouTube Music extension is not available to all Gemini users, but should arrive soon, especially since the extension seems to be working fine, so the release of a final version shouldn’t be too far away. The extension will be available from the “Extensions” page of the Gemini app for Android.
And given that we’re just a few days away from Google I/O 2024, Google’s most important developer conference, it’s possible that we’ll learn more about this extension and its availability at this event.
