If you have configured a “smart” device compatible with the Google Assistant, you have surely seen that the process of linking with Google home not very intuitive or fast. After configuring the device from the manufacturer’s application, you must then open the Google Home application, click on the ‘Add’ icon, then on ‘Configure the device’, then on ‘Works with Google’, search and click on the service to link and continue the instructions on several other screens to complete the process.
Well, Google is finally improving the linking process with the launch of two new functions this will help the user to configure your home automation devices with the Google Assistant much faster and easier.
New suggestions and links from the manufacturer’s app
The Google Home team introduced the new features to developers and manufacturers of smart devices Discovery of applications and Deep links which they hope to start implementing in their applications.
Discovery of applications is a function that allows Google home detect if the user has installed a home automation application, to display a suggestion that prompts the user to connect or configure these devices with Google Home and the Google Assistant.
Function Deep links goes one step further and allows developers to add a shortcut to their applications so that the user can pair your devices with the Google Assistant. So when you set up a new device from its official app, you can continue to pair the Google Assistant without having to open Google Home.
