In March of last year, Google was forced to make a series of changes to how to integrate some of its apps on Android. In light of the 1,000 imposed sanctions imposed by the European Commission on "illegal activity in relation to Android mobile devices to strengthen the domain of Google search engines," the company announced that soon, users will be given the opportunity to Select the default search engine and browser for your new devices.
Now, almost a year later, Google has completed the process, and as announced on the official Android website, since the month of March 2020 Android device users will have the ability to select the default search engine is different than the Mountain View company.
These are the three search engines that can be selected in Spain
As we had warned at the time, changing the default search engine would impact, among other things, i lock the claim screen or the Chrome browser search engine – if installed. In addition, if available, the selected supplier search system will be used in the setup process.
For selection, providers must participate in auction, which will give them access, or not, to the optional screen. Depending on each European Union country, the options will be single or not.
"For each country auction, search providers indicate the price they are willing to pay each time a user selects them on the selected screen of the country in question. Three key protesters will appear on the selection screen of the country. The user-selected provider will pay the fourth highest offer amount. Suppliers will be randomly assigned to the optional screen".
The "winners" list for this auction is available on the Android page itself. In the case of Spain, the search engines that will be included in the first selection screen will be DuckDuckGo, Qwant and Info.com. However, it is important to mention that this list will be updated every four months with auction winners.
