The last days, Google gave to update both its services and its applications. It’s unclear if they’re celebrating the May 10 I/O announcement or what, but the past few weeks have seen the expansion of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 magic eraser for Google One subscriptions. and, Plus, the inclusion of your VPN in all One subscriptions.
The latest is a feature that was announced a few weeks ago and is finally rolling out. It is about the possibility of having a new Google Keep widget focused on a single note on the mobile dashboard.
The latest version of Google Keep and the expected widget
Historically, and in my opinion, the Keep widget was one of the best offered by Google. It allowed you to have a thumbnail version of the application so you didn’t have to open it every time you wanted to watch something.
You had a collection of your notes and also had a widget to perform a quick action (a note, an image or a sound). These are two fairly complete functions, but the users we take advantage of Keep to the maximum we missed something simpler. A list or a single note, separately, on the main screen.
On February 27, Google announced that it would launch this new version of the widget soon, but days passed and it didn’t arrive. So far, since with application version 5.23.082.02.90it is already allowed to place this simple note as a widget.
To place the widget, all you have to do is execute a long press on the screen, go to the widget section of your device and navigate to ‘Keep’. Once done, you will see three options.
The last one, that of “single note” is the new one. Swipe to the dashboard, select the Google account you have on Keep (if you don’t have more than one account on your phone, this won’t be necessary), choose the rating you want to bring to the widget, and you are done.
What does this widget bring? For starters, it has the Material You visual style, so the visual language is more similar to other Google apps and also more in tune with your phone. But the good thing is in functionality, as it allows you to select items separately without having to enter Keep.
In a shopping list, for example, you can go mark items that are moved to a “done” drawer and, if for some reason you want to add new ones, just click on the button that appears in the lower right corner of the widget.
If the option to place this widget does not appear, I recommend that you take a look at the application version. To do this, go to “Settings” -> “Applications” -> “Show X applications” and search for “Keep”. At the bottom you will see the version. If you are not in the version that we indicate above, you can go to play store to update manuallybut if it is completely updated and the widget still does not appear, be patient because it will appear.
