There are two types of people, those who update all of their apps in bulk and those who only update their apps when strictly necessary. The latter group will find it increasingly difficult to maintain this lifestyle, due to the new update requests launched by Google.
You try to open an app and what you find instead is a screen indicating that an update is available, your changes and the update button. If you don’t want to update, there’s an X button to close the notice, although it will reappear every time you open the app again.
Update, firewood
Google has announced a new tool for developers integrated into the Google Play Console, the platform on which applications downloaded from its store are managed. The novelty allows developers include an invitation to update the app to users who are still using an old version.
This can be useful when an old version of the application stopped working or has a security flaw that was recently patched, so it encourages users to update immediately, without waiting until the next time to do it passively. The notice will display in full screen and give us the option to update directly, see more information or close it and continue as before.
Developers can use this tool to display these reviews segmented by app version, country and Android version. The main condition for this is that these versions are launched using Google’s App Bundle system and not with an APK.
Users can close the review by pressing the X button, but will reappear the next time the application is opened from scratchwhich will no doubt be annoying for those who want to keep the old version for whatever reason.
As a tool it is very useful for developers and in specific cases, although we will have to wait until more developers implement it in their applications to see if it becomes more use or abuse of its possibilities
