Now that we are in the peak season of traveling, traveling to other places and planning the next summer vacation, Google Maps is taking advantage of the situation to introduce three new features in its mobile application. Intended to offer the top recommendations in user-created liststhe news will even offer summaries with AI.
Landing in a new place, connecting to the airport WiFi, and opening Google Maps in search of the best places the new city has to offer is something many of us do on each of our trips. Because what would we do now without Google Maps, this application which both plans our trip by public transport and discovers restaurants where we can eat well at an affordable price? For me, it’s essential when I leave the house. And Google keeps improving it.
Google Maps reinvents lists to find the most recommended places
When Google Maps introduced the ability to create lists of favorite places, both private and public, the map application acquired an enormous social character and potential for discovering new spaces. recommended by people who have already visited them. And we can make lists of all kinds. And now we will have a ranking with the best.
How can we discover all these points of interest that require a visit beyond these places that are recognizable to everyone? Since the gems of a city don’t usually appear in travel guides, Google decided to improve the listings in Maps so that they not only gain prominence in the app, but also to facilitate travel planning
As Google shared on its official website, Maps has been enriched with three new features to bring your next escapades to life.
- Ranking the best lists by city. Why not let yourself be recommended by the most “top” lists? This is exactly what Google Maps offers: starting with certain cities in the United States and Canada, the mapping application will offer a ranking with the best lists, those that are trending and those that are a gem. Everything to find these places that few people know about and which end up changing the perspective of any trip.
- More tools for organizing Google Maps listings. To make them easier to share and make them visible within the application, Maps adds a chronological organization of places to modify their position within the lists. Once you’ve visited these places, you can scroll through the list to keep undiscovered sites at the forefront.
- Artificial intelligence to find the best sites. Now, Google’s AI can find the sites most recommended by the community to highlight what’s most important; with summaries including photos and comments with the best establishments.
All these new features will gradually arrive on Google Maps, some first in the United States and then in the rest of the world.
