It’s no secret that artificial intelligence tools and products, such as chatbots and generative AI, have become part of many people’s daily lives. something that happened in what seems like a very short period of time. Google presented Gemini in 2023, and the company continued to implement improvements and advancements in its AI model, in addition to integrating artificial intelligence systems into its products, such as the Circle to search function and the Magic Eraser of the Pixel (functions that are already available for more devices) and have renewed their virtual assistant with the new Gemini.

Pichai, in an official press release, assures that he wants to “bring the best innovations to its partners and its products more quickly”.

These changes continue the work we’ve been doing throughout 2023 to simplify our structure and improve speed and execution, such as bringing Google Research’s Brain team together with DeepMind teams, which has helped accelerate our Gemini models.

Rick Osterloh will be responsible for the new Platforms and Devices division. Osterloh previously led the Devices and Services division, responsible for all things hardware at Google. On the other hand, Sameer Samat will be in charge of the development of the Android ecosystem (including Android mobile operating system, Wear OS, Android TV, Android Auto and more).

Although everything is now part of the same division, Osterloh assured that the independence between Android development and Pixel development will continue. According to his statements to Verge: “we have always maintained separate teams between Android and our ecosystem partners, as well as our own hardware efforts.”

Google is clear with its seven goals for 2024: better pixels, the most advanced AI and a search engine

Users will have to wait to find out how this new division’s efforts translate into results for the products we use every day, from our Android phones to the Chrome browser, and much more.
