A few weeks ago I was at my brother-in-law's house and they showed me the album they had printed with photos of their first grandchild. I first read it and was impressed by how simple the design was and how good the pictures looked. I was not surprised to see that it was created with the Google Photos print service.

I was aware of this resource, we actually mentioned it on the blog several times, but I didn't see the result.

Now this print service goes one step further and adds a monthly subscription service to get your best photos at home.

Testing service in the United States

This new approach is quite different. It costs $ 7.99 per month and includes 10 photos of those created during that period are automatically selected by the program. This is important because we cannot choose them, or we can organize them.

The size is 4 x 6 inches, the size of the standard 10 x 15 cm images, and will have a 3-inch white circle frame. It will be printed in matte and come home every month in an envelope as you can see the cover photo.

Each month we can choose one of three central themes for printed images:

  • People and pets
  • Superheroes
  • A little of everything.

It looks like the option to print albums has worked well and Google continues to move in this direction. It is a matter of time that these tests performed in the United States reach many markets, as long as they work as expected by Google.

To be a payment option seems to be most efficient as it does not interfere with the general use provided by Google Photos, while allowing the company to obtain direct economic performance for its service.

Will we see next month's subscriptions to receive a month's printed album?
