A year ago, during Google I/O 2022, what many already imagined was confirmed and that is that the existence of the Pixel Tablet was made official. However, we only saw a corner of it and no other additional information. Already in October, Google showed it in a little more detail, although it was not a complete presentation. AND now, yes yes, the Pixel tablet is official having been presented in its entirety at Google I/O 2023.

It’s a somewhat special tablet from all points of view. It is not that it presents something revolutionary, at least on paper, but it offers new uses additional to those that we already know in other tablets and that would become two devices in one. Of course, not everything is good news and its availability is an obvious negative point.

The virtue of its design lies in its accessories

If we look at the design that the Pixel tablet takes, something that we have known since the end of last year, we see that its 11-inch LCD panel clashes with its pronounced edges, which isn’t that they’re dramatic, but they’re more than noticeable compared to what’s styled in the industry. At least when it comes to high-end tablets, and this one, considering its price, is very close to that range.

The fact is that on the back there is nothing sticking out either, keeping many similarities in its design line with that of Google smartphones. Aluminum materials and a ceramic finish make this connection to cellphones clear. However, the main design appeal of this tablet is its connection to external accessories.

From Google it is not intended to be a tablet for sporadic use, but continuous. To do this, they ensure full compatibility with a docking station with integrated speakers capable of not only powering the tablet, but also turning it into a kind of Nest Hub. This is something we have seen before.

This docking station, which Google officially calls “Charging Speaker Dock”, puts the tablet into “Hub Mode” as soon as it is docked. It is a modality in which, as we have already indicated, the tablet will be able to function as a Nest Hub with smart screen functions such as the digital photo frame or the control of home automation accessories. And that’s why the tablet is designed to last longer than any other tablet.

Familiar hardware and some vitamins for the software

If we talk about the brain of the Pixel Tablet, we must refer to the Google Tensor G2. It is processor designed by Google and manufactured by Samsung which already incorporated the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as the new Pixel 7a as well. Added to this is a configuration of 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

In the photographic field it does not make much noise, logical thing on the other hand given that its function is very different from that of a smartphone. 8 megapixel camera for front and rear. Although from Google, they try to mitigate this lack of resolution through software.

They say that artificial intelligence is applied to calls and video calls that are made with this tablet. To do this, they integrate algorithms at the software level that allow better sound and image quality, highlighting in the latter case a function in the purest iPad style that will allow us to always be at the center of the screen during the call.

On the software side, the latest Android 13 adapted to tablets. They claim to have worked with different developers to adapt applications to the big screen in order to obtain an experience much more adapted to the format and not the same as on a mobile, but enlarged. And in this sense they are adding a voice writing assistant that will be available in Spanish and will improve multitasking with the multi-window, having two applications open at the same time and being able to move elements from one to the other simply by dragging them.

Versions and prices of the Google Pixel Tablet

As we had already predicted, The Pixel tablet will not officially arrive in Europe and Latin America, at least for now. If it will in the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, counting only Germany as a European country.
