Months ago Huawei lost its mobile phone service, banned by the United States government from owning any American company. This includes Google and its mobile services, leaving these devices without the Google Play Store or other uses of G.
These measures did not affect calls that had been launched prior to May 16, 2019, which would continue to be supported by Google. Although Huawei has been able to continue to inform mobile phones about Google services, these types of terminals are already on the market, Google Play terminals are a classic example.
But what about completely new models like the Mate 30 Pro? While there are tools to install Google apps, the company recommends that we don't do them.
Google acknowledges the potential risks when installing apps
In the final hours, Google released a statement in response to questions about Google Play and Huawei phones, written by Tristan Ostrowski, Android manager and Google Play legal department.
Google Play Protect, Google's weapon for mobile protection.
In this statement he briefly describes all the developments between the US government and Huawei, demonstrating the impossibility of supporting any Huawei mobile phone that was introduced later but confirms that All phones with Google Play will continue to receive support.
Regarding Google's installation of Google apps with third-party tools, they have confirmed that there are potential risks, because, with verified devices:
“Additionally, Google's installed apps won't work reliably because we don't allow these services to run on unverified devices where security may be compromised. Installing apps also runs the risk of installing an app that has been modified to compromise user safety. »
Should I install Google apps on these phones?
Reading information provided by Google, there are two main reasons not to install your apps on unverified mobile phones:
- Loyalty: This reason is a little tricky, and Google cannot guarantee that apps will work properly. This does not imply that they will not work, or that Google will explicitly enforce them. No guarantees.
- To some extent, it means that custom ROM users can continue installing their programs, because even if the system changes, they are still Android certified devices.
- Security: This story is very important, because the latest installations it's easy Applications can serve as a tube for refined and fake versions.
Our recommendation? On a personal level, although it has never been proven that simple methods are dangerous, when I do with Huawei without Google's services I will not use easy methods. In any case, if we recommend manual installation of Google-certified apps such as OpenGApps, with a more complicated process, but with better guarantees.
