Last year, with Android 12, Google tried something different: minor betas with bug fixes, a few weeks after each beta. We had not yet seen them in Android 13, until now, with the arrival of Android 13 beta 2.1.
At Google I/O, we met Android 13 Beta 2 with a good number of new privacy features, multi-device support or the new photo picker. Two weeks later Beta 2.1 fixes some bugs to make it more stable to use when testing.
Fixes in Android 13 Beta 2.1
The Android 13 Beta 2.1 update is now available for download on compatible Google Pixels, i.e. from Google Pixel 4. If you already have a Pixel with Android 13 Beta, you can force OTA update from Settings > System > System update > Check for updates. is the version TPBB.220414.018.
If you prefer, you can also download the images to flash manually from the Android developer website, in addition to being able to use the Android Flash tool to do this relatively easily, from the browser.
Android 13 beta 2.1 correct four errors which were present for users testing the second beta of the upcoming OS release, some of which were serious as they could cause the device to restart. Here are the changes:
-
Fixed a bug where typing in the search bar would return an empty list of suggestions
-
Fixed a bug where devices would reboot when activating Wi-Fi hotspot
-
Fixed a bug where a ringtone would play continuously during a phone call.
-
Fixed a bug where devices would restart after disconnecting Android Auto
The next beta android 13 it is scheduled for sometime in June, already with the final APIs of Android 13 and as, if there are no surprises, the penultimate version before the official launch, perhaps in August or September.
