3D animals aren’t the only augmented reality novelty that Google has introduced to search: it is now possible to psteal various makeup products using the phone’s front camera. What will an eye shadow or lipstick color look like? Google shows it in real time.
Google’s augmented reality has improved many features of compatible phones. For example, we can see what a lion looks like at home, take pictures of a platypus, and even measure the distance between the dining room and the living room. Some functions are practical and some are also fun they can combine both aspects; as for the augmented reality makeup test. And without having to install any apps.
Choose the type of makeup, the brand, the color …
Trying on makeup using AR and the smartphone camera is nothing new, since apps like L’Oréal have been offering these functions for some time. From facial recognition systems accurately determine each facial feature, and they are able to highlight it to apply anything, from filters to putting on glasses, why not vary the colors of the face to show that they have made up? And directly from the search engine.
Google has officially introduced the augmented reality makeup test to its search engine. Just type in some makeup brands next to the specific type of product in the shopping tab (“ Shopping ”) and Google will return different items for sale and a card allowing direct testing. Tagged with a “ Try it out, ” and like 3D animals, Google will use ARCore on compatible mobiles to virtually paint the face.
Change the different tones, choose predefined faces (men or women) and also try it in first person: Google activates this function in the “Shopping” search for L’Oréal, MAC Cosmetics, Black Opal and Charlotte Tilbury products. The test starts in the United States: we searched our Spanish phones without locating a trace of augmented reality for makeup. Google is expected to gradually expand the feature to the rest of the territories.
