Ever since Material You became a reality, Google has incorporated new or redesigned widgets into most of its apps. The Google TV app was still devoid of widgets.but that seems to be changing very soon.
As they were able to verify in 9to5Google, version 4.38.7.4 of the Google TV application on mobile with Android 13 QPR2 beta 2 shows what will be the first widget of the application. It’s still pretty green, but let us know we’ll have remote control for android tv remote

There are more and more ways to control a TV with Android TV or Google TV from your mobile: you can do it from the Google Home app, from Android’s quick settings or, in the past, with the Android TV app. Remote. Soon there will be an additional way: from the home screen, with a new widget from the Google TV app.
The widget is still qu ite green, but we could already see it -probably by mistake- in Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2. This is the first widget in the Google TV app

With a size of 4 x 5 blocks, the widget displays a search button, a button to open the remote control and a still unused space where it is quite possible that we will see content recommendations to open with a touch. As is often the case with Material You widgets, it can be resized according to the elements displayed on the screen.
We’ll have to see how the widget evolves, but beyond the search and recommendations, perhaps the most interesting part is the shortcut to open the remote control, which will put the TV remote at your fingertips, without having to open an app or swipe up the notification panel. For the moment, impossible to know when it will be ready and available for everyone.
