Google Keep has always been one of the most interesting Google apps. It looks like a simple to-do list app, but gained traction as an essential app for many of us. It has reminders, a collaborative space, it’s one of the best apps for personal notes, and its widget was recently updated to be even more useful.
A few months ago, Google gave the app a facelift to fold Android cell phones and tablets with the ability to take advantage of split-screen more, but now a new Keep update is coming to make us more productive thanks to improved multitasking.
An update to Keep designed for foldable phones and large screens
With the previous Keep for Large Screens update, we were able to pan the app and open a note on the right half while keeping the view of all app notes on the left.
It was a successful update, but in the end it continued to limit the use of multitasking within the app itself. It seems that Google has noticed this and, as detailed in their blog, they will soon let us open two notes in parallel. So instead of having the preview of our notes on one side and a detailed view on the other, we can have the two notes we want side by side.
This is a much more useful way to set up split screen, since, for example, you can have a note with free ideas or text on one side while at the same time you open a note in which note the key points.
And, as we said at the beginning, little by little Google turns Keep into a most useful application. This new update, coupled with the ability to drag and drop files between apps, may change the way we work on large-screen devices.
Spreadsheets add full mouse support
However, that’s not the only thing Google will update. And that’s it, they will also launch an update for Google Sheets and Slides on Android that allows us full control with the mouse.
Currently, you can use mouse on any android device. Try to connect it by cable or Bluetooth and you will see that the pointer even appears on the screen. However, there are applications -the majority- that are not really suitable to this and only see the mouse pointer as if it were our finger.
With the new Sheets update we will be able to control the application with the mouse as if we were in the desktop version. We will be able to change the size of rows and columns very easily, as well as “click” and drag directly with the mouse.
Full mouse support in the Google suite started a few months ago when it was implemented in Google Docs, but if there was an application that needed this control method, it was definitely Sheets.
Now, when will this update arrive? As always with these cases, there will be a gradual rollout to Google Workspace, but by April 12, all users should have access to this new spreadsheets feature.
