Google will add in your operating system android a characteristic that would have been useful to more than one a few years ago during teleworking caused by the pandemic: being able to use the mobile as a webcam.
Converting your mobile into a webcam is currently possible thanks to various third-party applications, but it would seem that in the future, which we hope will not be too distant, Google will allow us to turn our Android into a USB webcam without installing anything on the mobile.
Use the mobile as a USB webcam
For years the Android operating system has allowed us to connect a USB webcam to our device, but now Google is going even further and will allow the opposite, connect our mobile to a PC and that the computer recognizes our mobile as a USB webcam.
Mishaal Rahman discovered in the Android source code that Google adds support to turn an Android device into a USB webcam simply by connecting it to our PC and without third-party applications.
Using an Android phone as a webcam has become very popular during the pandemic, but you usually had to install a third-party app to do so. However, you may not have to do this in the future, as Google adds support for turning Android devices into USB webcams!

The operation would be very simple. When connecting the mobile via USB to the computer, we would find a new option in the usb preferences which we can access from the notification that appears when connecting the mobile to the PC. Currently, among your options, you can use USB for file transfers, tethering, MIDI, or PTP. Well, it looks like soon you will also be able to select the option to webcam.
It is not known in which version of the operating system this new support would arrive. In a few weeks, the launch of the first glimpse Android 14, with which support for turning Android into a webcam it could be one of their novelties.
