Google will allow Android manufacturers to launch Amazon Fire devices, but with a but

The Amazon Fire HD tablets are highly demanded devices for several reasons, and one of them is that part of Android is present, albeit under Amazon’s own store. Now, as it seems, the big G could give the green light to use these “forks”, like the one on Amazon Fire, by Android makers; which are none other than Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo and many more.

Google opens Pandora’s box

So far, Google, and via Ars Technica, has not allowed any Android manufacturer that has signed up with them, meaning the use of the Play Store and Google apps, to use these “forks”. The rationale was that could harm the Android ecosystemso these manufacturers have always been prevented from producing a device in this way.

Now, if we go to Europe, under certain laws, it is argued that this ‘no forks’ clause is not legal and that Google cannot force OEMs not to use them. But now a new report from Protocol’s Janko Roettgers, maintains that Google plans to lift this restriction, but only, and for now, for televisions. In other words, Google would be for the work of partnering with Amazon to allow Android manufacturers to design TVs with Fire TV OS.

Xiaomi or TCL with Fire TVs
