The demand for wearable devices, or wearables, has increased in recent years. So much so that companies like Amazfit, almost focused on this type of device, have overtaken Huawei, which is also one of the companies that sells the most watches and bracelets. Google wants to relaunch its watch proposition, hand in hand with Samsung in software and independently in hardware.
The Pixel Watch would arrive in 2022
Google was supposed to present its first smartwatch in the fall, when it presented the Pixel 6, but ultimately it did not. We weren’t sure if this was an issue of processor shortage, project maturity or whatever.
There was speculation the project could be called off, but new information posted to Insider makes it clear that it won’t.
This product, codenamed Rohan, would be a connected watch with Wear OS, more precisely with the improved version of the hand of Samsung. Of course, the name of Pixel Watch has yet to be confirmed.
It won’t be cheap
Google is going to be extremely ambitious with this watch, targeting the Apple Watch directly. In other words, it won’t be cheap at all, which could greatly limit your success.
Hopefully Google’s commitment to watches is strong and especially long-term, as the company has a reputation for eliminating things that don’t suit it very quickly.
