In the past Google I/O, the internet giant once again disappointed Spanish users, confirming that its first foldable mobile, the Pixel Fold, was notwhere went out in our country, but yes in other European markets. It was the second time in just six months that Google had “punished” Europe, with its first wearable Pixel Watch also only available in other countries.
Of course, when launching a new product in any country, there are many considerations to take into account; Google didn’t provide an explanation, so it’s unclear exactly why the company denied Europe two consecutive products, but it is possible to get an idea by taking these considerations into account. For example, Google may simply not believe that the Pixel brand is popular enough in Europe to justify the cost of distributing and adapting the product to that market.
Or maybe it’s because Google does not give for more, and had no choice but to prioritize its most important markets, while continuing to grow and adapt to its new life as a device manufacturer. Recall that until not so long ago, Google did not really attach importance to its range of ‘hardware’, choosing to rely on other manufacturers to expand its Android system. Starting around Pixel 6, Google changed that philosophy and is now in direct competition with the rest of the Android makers.
Pixel Fold issues
Of course, Google does not have the experience of these competitors, and the rapid expansion of its product catalog is weighing on its ability to cover the demand users. This is what we see with the Pixel Fold, whose production problems are already more than apparent after the delays that users are experiencing.
Although the Pixel Fold has been available for pre-order since it was unveiled at Google I/O last month, demand is so high that the company is already warning some customers that it won’t be able to meet the launch date. In theory, the Pixel Fold was going to hit the market on June 27, but in practice many people won’t get it until the first week of July, maybe even later. Google is unable to give the exact date in some cases; some European users even report delays until augustnearly two months after its original release, according to android font.
All of this could indicate two things: that the demand is so high that Google cannot respond to all requests in time, or that the mobile has manufacturing issues that they delayed the arrival of all the reserved units. The latter is likely, considering it’s the company’s first foldable mobile; Although Samsung is responsible for producing the flexible displays, there are many components (like the hinge) that Google produces just for this device.
In short, even if the Pixel Fold had been announced for Europe, it is quite possible that no one would have received it on the release date. In this context, it is perhaps easier to understand Google’s decision to “ditch” Europe, perhaps until the second folding model when the problems have been resolved.
