Encryption on the device reaches Google’s password manager to make this section, which is both in the system and in the Google Chrome app, be more protected.
This is an optional feature, but the company said it will be standard in time. It will turn your smartphone into a trusted encrypted device to save passwords.
Encrypt your passwords on the device
Google has added the ability to create an encryption key for Google Password Manager, its password manager, with which they will have a new level of security which will make them more protected before being uploaded to the cloud manager version. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open Settings and go to Google.
- Tap Manage your account, then tap Security.
- Open the password manager.
- Click Set up encryption on device.
This encryption, confirmed by Google, cannot be removed once it has been configured, and makes your smartphone a trusted device from which to have your passwords, for which you will have to establish a screen lock.
This password encryption can be created from various devices, something that can recover passwords if for some reason you lose the device you did the first encryption on.
The company has emphasized the importance of creating password recovery methods before enabling encryption on the device, as if something goes wrong, they will make the process of recovering your account easier.
