Although the main utility of Google Photos is precisely the management and editing of photos, it is worth remembering that it is also one of the best applications for managing the videos that we make with our mobile.
It’s easy to forget, because in recent years Google has focused on launching photography-related news; For example, Google Photos Magic Eraser was a revolution that demonstrated the potential of artificial intelligence in content creation.
In this sense, Google has introduced Google Photos Magic Editor, which completes the functions of Magic Eraser by adding the possibility of moving the subjects of an image from one position to another, and varying the brightness of the objects photographed separately.
Videos on Google Photos
The innovations presented today are not that revolutionary, but they will make it possible to create videos that are more impactful and that better express what we intended when we recorded them. Google has confirmed the launch of 12 new video effectswhich will be added to the video filters that were already available in the app.
Indeed, it is important differentiate new video “effects” with “filters”; the latter simply adds a cosmetic layer over the video, which is easy to notice because it’s basically a transparent image overlaid. Instead, the effects modify the video itself, for a more realistic or eye-catching result.
The effects appear in a new tab, separated from filters, when we open a video in Google Photos. To find them we must open Google Photos, open the video we want to edit, swipe up and click on “Edit”. Next to the “Filters” section, there will be an Effects section, although at the time of this writing it does not seem to have been activated in Europe yet.
Google offers 12 different effects:
- “Mixture of Dust”
- “Paper Tear”
- “B&W movie”
- “Lomo”
- “Light Leak”
- “Cinema Atmosphere”
- “Chromatic”
- “Fish Eye”
- “Ancient”
- “Layouts”
- “Retro Movie”
- “Attach”
Before applying each style we can see a preview of the thumbnails, but by simply pressing we can see them large. Once applied, we can save a copy of the video with the effect applied and share it as we wish.
