“Wearables” will be the talk of the town a lot over the rest of the year, with the massive arrival of devices in a new product category: the smart ring. Samsung’s Galaxy Ring launch is the most anticipated, but not the only one we’ll see in the coming months.
Today Circular, one of the brands already present in the sector, has decided to get ahead of Samsung with the renewal of one of its best smart rings, the Thin Ring; a movement that will make the choice even more difficult for the consumer, thanks to the latest advances that allow the creation of more complete components that take up less space.
The Ring Slim was actually launched relatively recently, last November; but in just a few months, the French company Circular managed to create a more complete and advanced device. As the name suggests, the Ring Slim is a “thin” version of Circular’s previous rings; In fact, the company claims it is the the thinnest smart ring on the market.
However, to achieve this, Circular first had to accept certain sacrifices, which it corrected with this second version. Regarding the current model, the big news is the IP68 certification for resistance to water and dust, in addition to a new scratch resistant cover; All this should result in a ring that you are less afraid to wear when going to the beach, for example.
The new Ring Slim remains the thinnest (2.2mm thick) and lightest (2 grams) smart ring despite these additions. What is surprising is that, despite this, Circular managed to improve battery life, which now it can reach 2 days; but this can be extended up to 6 days with an Eco mode.
It is also surprising that the Ring Slim brings improvements in monitoring our health; although it seems that this time the difference lies in the algorithms and not so much in the “hardware”, since users of the previous model will also be able to access some of the improvements simply by installing the new Kira Plus application. For example, Circular claims to have achieved a 79% accuracy in recognizing sleep disorders
The Kira Plus app also offers two new sections to analyze our sports sessions, including a view of the route we traveled on a map and a new comprehensive analysis that shows all the measurements in a single graph, from scores to information vital. The heart rate measurement algorithm has also been improved to offer real-time measurements.
The Slim circular ring is available for 262 dollars, with shipments to Europe available. It is offered with a kit with a measuring ring to know our size. A new charger with USB-C was also presented, which allows connection with the cell phone to use its battery to charge the ring.
