The next version of Google’s operating system is in the oven. Android 15 is at that cooking point where he doesn’t have much left: The third beta reaches the stability phase. Now in the remaining previous versions no major changes will be introduced.
However, the arrival of Android 15 Beta 3 is starting to give us clues about what the future of our favorite operating system will be. It will use a new trick to save battery, turning off the screen earlier, although other new features focus on the visual section: Google prepares an important change in the configuration section.
A little order in Android settings
The settings have remained without major changes for some time, beyond recent feature additions that end up buried under the various sections. It’s time they received a deserved overhaul Well, they have gained complexity with the submenus and sometimes they can definitely be confusing.
Fortunately, we have the search bar which is also present in most customization layers. This is not to say that Google has finally decided to give them a twist to make them simpler, at least in its main screen.
This is what they discovered in Android Authority, while digging into the code of Android 15 Beta 3. The reorganization does not bring a very sudden change but it brings small improvements that will make the settings more understandable. The current command does not respond to precise logic, so it is difficult to find an adjustment quickly.
Now, with the aforementioned renovation that Google continues to think about, everything would be in a better location. Here are the changes: the higher level of settings will place similar elements next to each other, and even better, sections will be visually separated.
The specialized media lists and compares the sections of Android 14 with those found internally in Android 15 Beta 3. From now on, “Sound and Vibration” will be next to “Notifications”, which is quite logical. This is just an example, because as we can see in the mockup capture, other movements have occurred.
Additionally, the labels (name) of some sections change with the redesign. It will be necessary to wait upcoming test versions of Android 15 to find out if the change ends up becoming effective. Everything leads us to believe it, except what seems necessary. In a few months we will check if it extends to all users.
