Google may have been too cautious when it comes to artificial intelligence. Although the giant has been boasting about advances in this technology for years, it was eventually overtaken by OpenAI, which released its generative AI with ChatGPT and Dall-E. Microsoft, one of the big investors in OpenAI, is using the same technology in Bing Chat with great success, with the fastest growing alternative search engine to Google in history.
Google’s AI will come to the Pixel
The success of ChatGPT and Bing Chat forced Google to make an emergency decision and launch its own alternative, called Bard; Although the initial launch was somewhat disastrous, the company has improved its responses and increased its possibilities, and we hope that access to Bard will soon be extended (for now it is only available in certain English-speaking countries ).
Just as Microsoft integrates GPT into all of its products, we can expect the same from Google Bard, which It will even come to our mobile. In 9to5Google They have already discovered the first indications of this integration in the source code that will be used in Pixel mobiles and which already refers to Artificial Intelligence.
This integration will allow us use Google Bard directly from the home screen from our mobile, thanks to a new widget where we can ask any question; although at this time it’s unclear if the widget will display replies directly, or if it will open a new window. It is also necessary to imagine that the widget will show suggestions of possible questions or utilities, which we can activate simply by clicking on it.
Of course, it is already possible to use Bard from mobile (in countries with access), but only through the official application website; The AI still does not have its own app for Android nor is it open to other services such as ChatGPT, so its use is still very limited. If Google finally integrates Bard into the Android home screen, AI might finally be ready to grow.
A curious detail is that this integration This will only happen on Pixel phones, at least for now; therefore, it will not be new to Android 14 but a standalone app, or perhaps an update to the Google app. So if you own a Pixel, you can skip the Bard Waitlist by using this widget.
We expect more details at the next Google I/O, where the company will have to demonstrate its commitment to Artificial Intelligence.
