Suppose one day your Apple Watch Ultra was bumped while you were running or biking, you tripped and, although there was apparently no damage, a rock scratched the outer sphere. This one could have suffered a more serious deterioration. And to check if these cracks could compromise the depth sensor, Apple has introduced a new service to help you check.
The brand just posted a support page where they say if you have an Apple Watch Ultra and would like to know if the depth and seal gauge is working properly,
The limit of an Apple Watch Ultra
As is known, the onboard sensors of the Apple Watch Ultra can me asure depths up to a maximum of 131 feet (40 meters). However, according to official company information, the Apple Watch Ultra has a waterproofing system that allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 328 feet (100 m).
We should also not forget that the Ultra has the IP6X certification, which according to the granulometric definition, certifies that the device is completely waterproof and that objects larger than a certain diameter cannot enter, such as grains of coarse sand. Add to that, Apple Watch Ultra also has MIL-STD 810 military certificationallowing it to withstand extreme temperatures and sudden changes, corrosive exposure to sand, vibration and, of course, rain, humidity or fog.
The aforementioned Apple service is based on tests carried out by specialists in pressure-controlled pools, but they never exceed 50 meters. The tests will certify the condition of the watch and will guarantee the proper functioning of the depth gauge
Of course, from Apple they warn that in case of damage not visible, the watch could be damaged, which would incur additional replacement costs unless the original problem is covered under warranty. Thus, before resorting to this service, it is important to know if the device has, at least, an active guarantee.
To date, no other information has been disclosed, neither on the countries, nor on the prices of this service, nor on how the deliveries/returns will be handled, except that the service takes between seven and ten working days. A week without your Apple Watch Ultra in exchange for knowing for sure if it’s in perfect condition.
