Being able to back up your Mac is essential to keep all our data safe. It is obvious that we can synchronize a lot of information through iCloud or other cloud services. In fact, most of the Applesfera team don’t use Time Machine for various reasons, but the easiest way to protect everything on our computer is from Time Machine.
External storage and… nothing more. Our Mac takes care of everything
If we are new to Apple platforms or to backups, the first thing to consider to keep the information on our Mac safe is Time Machine. It’s him Mac incremental system nameand an excellent resource that, in the simplest possible way, allows us to have all the content of our computer on external storage.
Backing up our Mac with Time Machine is as easy as connecting external storage to our Mac. Then we click on System Preferences from the Apple () menu and enter Time Machine. Here we touch Select backup disk and ready.
now alone we have to wait for the backup to finish. The first time, this process can take a long time, always depending on the amount of information on the computer and the storage speed, but the following times, the process is very fast. We don’t have to take care of anything, just connect the storage to the Mac from time to time so that it can take care of the data transfer.
In the preferences panel that we just left, we can always activate Show Time Machine in menu bar so that, with a simple click, we can see the process of the copy if there is one in progress or make a copy on request. A very simple system to keep all our information safe.
