Block an entire prefix on Huawei
Blocking an entire prefix assumes that you can block calls from a certain country. If there is a scam involving phone numbers from a specific country, you can use the Huawei app to block it. This is a little more drastic option than blocking a single number, but it can be useful for some users with a Chinese brand phone. If you want to use this option, the steps are as follows:
- Open the Optimizer app on your Huawei phone.
- Click on the Filter option.
- Click on the gear icon at the top right.
- In the new window that opens, go to the Blacklist section.
- Click the Add button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the Filter Prefix option.
- Enter the prefix you want to block (in international format, i.e. + (prefix)).
Once this is entered, your Huawei phone with EMUI automatically reject calls which come from said prefix. You won’t have to do anything else to avoid these types of calls on your phone. Anytime you want to add more prefixes, you can do so by following the same steps we have shown now.
The advantage of this system, as shown in the last step, is that the calls and messages from unknown numbers that begin with this prefix. This means that if you have a phone number in your address book that begins with this prefix, that number could call you because it is not an unknown number.
