The text documents we create with apps like Pages have always had a white background, but the advent of dark interfaces in recent years has shifted more than a regular screen to an all-black white background to better rest your eyes. after hours of work.
However, Pages only offers two options in its templates: either a white background or a black background. If, for example, we want a background with less contrast (gray or beige are usually good options), you have to use a setting that you can’t find at first sight
Add color to your Pages documents in three clicks
The option to change the document background can be found in the ‘Document’ section, ‘Section’ tab:
If you click on the white box that you can see in the photo, you can choose from a series of predetermined colors. There are several basic grays and colors, although you may be more interested show the arrow to the right of the word ‘Background’
From the drop-down menu, we can also choose other fill modes, such as a gradient or even a background image that we can select from the Finder:
If we select the image fill we will have options to create a “noise” background, interesting for simulate an old paper effect on the document:
As you can see, it’s all about knowing where the option to change that background is and experimenting with all those options of solid colors, gradients, or more complex backgrounds. Remember that the intercompatibility of these documents with custom backgrounds may be affected if we want to export to other formats such as Word .docx or LibreOffice documents. Again, everything is test.
