Today there are plenty of apps and web pages that will help you convert your images on Mac to any format you want. However, with the arrival of macOS Monterey, the most recent version of which arrived loaded with improvements, all you need is your Mac or MacBook computer and the image you want to convert. All the others you can do this internally from macOS Monterey without having to download anything else, and today we’re going to show you how.
To convert the image to the desired format from your Mac, We will only use the Finder and Quick Actions tools, a function that will allow us to do the conversion and which is also one of the 5 macOS functions that very few know about. Quick Actions can perform other functions, like creating PDF documents or rotating any images you want, but what we’re going to use for today, that works too. You just need to follow these steps:
How to convert an image using Finder on macOS Monterey
Image Convert is one of the latest features that Apple has added to its macOS Monterey system. To get there we can do it via Finder. This quick action comes preinstalled with the operating system, so don’t worry, you won’t have to download anything more. In addition to converting the selected image, it will also allow us to change the file size, as well as modify any of the metadata of the image in question.
To convert the image, follow these steps:
- To use the function Convert image In Quick Actions, right-click on an image or select multiple images, then choose the Quick Actions option from the context menu.
- Once you are on Quick Actions in the context menu, click on the option Convert image.
- A dialogue window will open. In her, select format you want to export the image to and the size you want the final product to be. You can choose between small, medium, large and common.
- Touch the box to activate the option to keep metadata of the image.
- Finally, click on the button Convert to [FORMATO].
Ready. Already you should be able to see the newly converted image in the same folder where the originals are located. Of course, this feature won’t alter your original images, so don’t worry, they’ll be safe the entire process. One cool thing is that you can now see Quick Action in Finder while viewing the Pictures folder, so you can get to it even faster than before in case you need it once more at the to come up.
