Do you know all the options that the Search app offers you on your iPhone? Do you know what steps you should take if you lost your iPhone, AirPods, iPad or Mac? Well, here we explain everything you need to know about the Search app, including the most advanced options.
The “Find my iPhone” application was launched in 2010, a long time ago, and is known all over the world. But when it comes to using it, not everyone knows what steps should be taken to find a lost iPhone, or that it can even be used to find your AirPods, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, etc. . Also in your device settings There are options that are disabled by default and should be aware of as they offer much more advanced protection which will be very useful in recovering your lost item. In this video, we’ve explained everything you need to know to recover a lost iPhone, from how to set it up to how to get it back.
Setting
In the settings of our device there are options that we must know to increase the level of protection of our iPhone. It is not only important that we know the “Find my iPhone” function that we must have activated for our security, but also There are a few options we need to check that are enabled so that we don’t have to regret it later.
Within our iCloud account, in the “Search” section You must check that “Find my iPhone” is activated. But we also need to see two other options in this section:
- Research Network: By activating this feature you guarantee that even if your iPhone is in battery reserve mode, or even turned off, it will still send its location so that we can find it from the Search application.
- Send last location– This option sends the location of the iPhone just before it turns off or runs out of battery, so you know its last location.
How to find your iPhone
There are two different ways to find your iPhone with any device that supports Find My:
- With the Search application: If you have a device other than the one you lost with the same iCloud account, you can use the Search app, which is installed on any iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It shows all the devices we have in our account with their locations. If you also have family accounts associated with yours, all their devices will also appear and you will be able to find them as well.
- With an internet browser: If you don’t have another device with your account on hand, you can always use any phone, tablet or computer, regardless of brand, with the operating system it has, to be able to find it. To do this, you must use an Internet browser, no matter which one, and access the address “www.icloud.com/find“. On this official Apple website you must enter your iCloud account, the same one you have on the lost device, and its location will appear there.
With either method, you can perform the following steps. The first is to know the location of your iPhone, and if it is in a place where you cannot access it quickly, you will have to put it in “Lost Mode”. With this feature enabled, you will be able to track its movements and put a message on the lock screen with a phone number that anyone who found it can call to facilitate its recovery.
If you can’t find it and resign yourself to not getting it back, you can always use the “Erase device” option so that at least you have peace of mind that they will not be able to access your personal data, passwords, credit cards, etc.
