The arrival of alternative application stores to iOS can mean a before or after, although knowing the tricks of the Cupertino company in the face of the impositions of the European Union, we imagine that the “fashion” will pass as soon as possible .
However, the emergence of emulators in alternative stores can be extremely attractive. We teach you how to install AltStore and other alternative stores to be able to play emulators on your iPhone, and many other things…
You already know that a picture is worth a thousand words, that’s why on our YouTube channel we have decided to launch a video in which we show you step by step everything that you can see below. Join our community of more than 100,000 users, one of the most relevant in the Apple world in Spanish.
What is AltStore?
This app store is an alternative store to the iOS App Store where we will be able to find a multitude of applications that otherwise we would not find in the official iOS App Store. Indeed, although they are reviewed by Apple, the applications they contain do not necessarily respect the strict ethical standards of the Cupertino company’s own platform.
AltStore, for its part, is nothing more than the first alternative application store available for iOS in Europe.
If we tell you what the AltStore is and how to install it, it is because it has been tested and analyzed by a multitude of specialized media, as well as different developers, who attest to its security. It should be noted that the AltStore has no relation to any jailbreak or similar method, since technically it exists with Apple’s approval, so Your device information and privacy are not compromised.
How to install AltStore
The first thing you’ll need to install AltStore is to have an iOS device running version 17.4 or higher. To check it, simply follow the following route: Settings > General > Information > iOS Version. In case you are not on the necessary version, you must follow the path: Settings > General > Software Update. This way you will be able to update your iPhone and it will be quite possible to install AltStore quickly.
The next thing will be that from your iPhone, preferably using Safari, you access the AltStore download s ite. And now it’s time to follow the steps:
Click on AltStore PAL, This will allow you to download to any device available within the European Union. If you’re outside the European Union, you’ll need to click AltStore (worldwide), but this second feature will require macOS, so I recommend using the European Union version.
By pressing, The payment platform will open to you, since you will have to pay a subscription of $1.5 per year, to which taxes must be added, i.e. the final price will be $1.81 per year. Later, we will teach you how to cancel your AltStore subscription so that it does not renew automatically.
Second act, After making the payment, a new AltStore download window will appear, showing the button “Download”, which you will obviously have to press if you want to continue the installation.
You will see if you pressed the download button, a pop-up menu will appear stating the following:
App Store Installation: The installation settings on this iPhone do not allow installation of app stores by “AltStore LLC” from the web. You can change this option in Settings.
Now just tap “ALL RIGHT”and go to Settingswhere you will find the option to: Authorize the “AltStore LLC” app store. Once we click on this new option, will indicate the following warnings:
- If you authorize this developer, you can install their app stores on this iPhone.
- All installed app stores will be managed by the developer and this can give them access to your data.
- Your App Store account is the payment method on file and related features, such as subscription management and refund requests, will not be available.
We now have the opportunity to to allow or ignore the App Store, but if you’ve made it this far, I’m guessing you’re interested in installing the AltStore.
Now simply We will choose the option to install the App Store, and another pop-up will appear,
Immediately after and without further ado, the AltStore icon will appear in our iOS app drawer.
Unsubscribe from the AltStore
The AltStore gives you an auto-renewable subscription of $1.50 more taxes per year, we therefore recommend that, without closing the safari tab, you choose the option “Manage subscription”. To participate, simply enter our email account and we will receive a participation link, which is too simple.
Once inside, The first thing I recommend is to add the following test card, to be able to remove your bank card, and thus protect yourself in case the AltStore is hacked in the future:
- Number: 4276734060656231
- Expiration and data: 03/25 – 766
In this way we can, before canceling our subscription, delete our own credit card.
What do we have available in the AltStore?
Well, at the moment we have Delta, which is the predecessor of GBA4iOS, so we will be able to install and play NES, SNES, N64, GB and GBA ROMs. However, we remind you that emulators are illegal unless you run ROMs of your own physical video games, that is, they are not illegal if you own a copy of the physical game.
The other application available is Clip, a “clipboard” manager which is not very attractive, nor too flashy compared to the other alternatives already available in the iOS App Store.
For the moment, Ihe developers have not joined AltStore, even though they have been on the market for several weeks now, and I’m not sure this will change in the future given Apple’s restrictions.
