Do you need to control your data usage on your iPhone? Here we show you a manual and an automated way to do it
Mobile data from our iPhone They come into action once we are away from home or somewhere with Wi-Fi. It is our engine for communicating with different applications for networking, working or simply being connected to the world within the device. If you have a limited data plani.e. a certain number of GB available for use It is good to take care of them and check how they are consumed depending on the applications.. Below we will teach you how to monitor this data use.
I don’t have data control in my applications, how can I do this without dying trying?
Personally, I don’t have this type of control since the data plan I use per month includes unlimited use of social networks. However, It is good to know how many GB are consumed per month or over a certain period of time. Check it as follows:
- Open the Settings app and go to Cellular Network
- Scroll down and you will see the data you have consumed in total since the count was last started and also roaming (if you used it)
- Scroll down to see data consumption by app
- Before starting the list of applications you can sort these statistics by use or by name according to your choice
- The last button is to reset data statistics. Do this if you really want to take control of your data from now on
Reset data period
The amount shown in the previous steps corresponds to the number of apps and mobile data consumed since these statistics were last reset. If you’ve never done this, that means it was from the first time you used data on the iPhone. Regarding roaming, it will also keep track of data that has been consumed outside the coverage area, for example when you travel to another country and use that same data.
The date and time iPhone shows at the end of the section is when the stats were last reset.. It’s a good thing to do if you want to consciously control your data consumption.
How to know monthly or daily data consumption
Not possible automaticallyonly if you do it manually daily or monthly, reset the statistics. Set up a daily, weekly, or monthly reminder depending on the day a new cut begins on your current data plan. You can also automate the process using the Shortcuts app.
We will create a shortcut to run an automation on mobile data on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone (if you deleted it, download it from the App Store)
- Tap + and tap Reset cellular data stats
- Tap Done to add this shortcut to the shortcut library
- Go to the Automation tab and tap New automation or the + button
- Choose Time of day followed by schedule when the shortcut is going to run (this could be the time you normally start your day or from midnight)
- Choose how often you want to run the shortcut. daily, weekly or monthly
- Do you want to confirm before resetting mobile data? Enable the Run after confirmation option.
- If you have already decided how often to reset mobile data select Run immediately. You can also receive a notification when the shortcut is created.
- To confirm the creation of the automation, Tap Next in the upper right corner.
- The automation summary will be displayed step by step then select the shortcut created in step 3. The shortcut is already linked.
Don’t forget to review your data usage before the end of the selected period (daily, weekly or monthly). Statistics cannot be recovered once deleted.
If this option does not convince you at all, You can check if the operator has a mobile data section or index that can provide you with the appropriate statistics.. The best comes from the iPhone since the data is more faithful from opening the application until closing, including background uses (if activated).
Is an application crossing limits or is there something strange? You can turn it off in the green box right next to the app name in the Mobile Data section. Also check whether background activity influences excessive drinking. We also offer you the best applications to control your data consumption.
