With the advent of touchscreens, developers have added haptic feedback to keyboard of our devices, playing sounds and vibrations when pressing the keys, thus recreating the feeling of typing with a physical keyboard. This can be boring for some people, especially if it is accompanied by the sounds they produce when we are talking.
Then we will see how we can turn off all sounds and vibrations on our keyboard. Gboard the SwiftKey next to the sound they usually do by default WhatsApp, Telegram and the app Posts when sending and receiving messages when we are in conversation, so do not make noise while chatting
Remove keyboard sound and vibration
We start the tutorial with the keyboards, and we will see how to remove sound and vibration in Gboard Yes Swiftkey, the two most popular keyboards, but in all Android keyboards the step to follow will be very similar, as these options are usually very visible in the keyboard settings.
And Gboard we have to enter Settings> Preferences. There, it is enough to deactivate the options ” Sound by pressing the keys Yes ‘Vibration when pressing the keys’. By disabling these two options, the keyboard will stop making noise when pressing its keys.
Fr Swiftkey we have to go to Settings> Sound and vibration. There we need to turn off all sound and vibration volume options so that its keys don’t have that haptic response when typing.
On other keyboards, you’ll need to find where the sound and vibration settings are. In some versions of Android we can find these settings directly from the system settings, in category “Sound and vibrations”, by dedicating certain options to the keyboard.
Remove sound when sending a message
Now that the keyboard does not make any more sounds, in this second part of the tutorial, we will see how to remove this sound that is played when we send a message with WhatsApp
- On Whatsapp we have to go to Settings> Notifications and deactivate the option “Conversation sounds”.
- And telegram we have to go to Settings> Notifications and sounds and deactivate the option “Sounds in the chat”.
- In Google messages we have to go to Settings and deactivate the option “Hear the sounds of sent messages”.
With this option disabled, no sound will be played when sending a message, and we will not hear any sound when we receive a new message in the chat window that we currently have open.
