MacOS operating system has excellent configuration options regarding Dock. Many users have different programs and software, so you need to adapt them according to your needs. Since customization is very easy, it may look different now than when you bought it, right?
However, you may have added or removed apps, resized icons, or just moved the location, so maybe you need to restore your Mac’s Dock to its default settings. It’s easy to do, and we’ll tell you about it below.
How to Restore Those Default Mac Dock Settings
It doesn’t matter how many modifications you have made to your dock, since it is possible to perform a full restore to start over. This can be done directly from the terminal, and we’ll mention it below.

- Open Terminal on your Mac from Finder
- Copy the following code snippet and then press the “Enter” or “Enter” key: defaults delete com.apple.dock
If all goes well, the Dock will reset and restart immediately. They will remove the icons you added, the Dock will be resized and, in short, all magnification and location settings will be completely reset.
Of course, keep in mind that if you’ve removed any of the apps that originally appear in the Dock, such as Pages, Numbers, or Keynote, an icon will appear with a question mark ‘?’, at least until you reinstall the missing apps.
