It's never a bad time to travel, as long as you're willing, and moreover you're paying attention to the services offered by mobile phones. Search flight, manage international network connection, currency exchange, etc. For now A smartphone is the best way to manage everything you need for our trip.
Therefore, we will show you many key points to look for with your phone when traveling anywhere in the world. Applications, settings, and some tricks to control it all when we're away from home.
First, we must know where we are going
If we don't know exactly where to go, there are applications that are responsible for doing this work for us. In particular, here we will recommend AirHopping, on the other hand, Pirate Travelers.
Both AirHopping and Pirate travelers are two great apps to start looking for places when we are not where we want to go
With AirHopping, we'll be shown, at random, various combinations of surfaces, and the price of flights for them. In the same way, we can manage from the app itself accommodation, booking flights and others, although this will be done later, when we talk about travel.
Pirate traveler request can be very helpful in looking at your destination. We can choose between popular holiday destinations for hiking or hiking, and it has the benefit of that they usually offer many discounts. Although the app is designed to manage everything that comes from it, it works well as an app focused on finding our destination.
Will there be a good internet connection there?
In the European field, it will be sufficient to use roaming to have a data connection. However, in other countries you will need to get another SIM card directly. Common cards here are prepaid cards, so we have to find out for ourselves what comes to mind in the world we are going to visit.
In some countries, it will be necessary to use a VPN connection to access certain restricted content. However, it doesn't hurt to protect communication when using WiFi in hotels and public places
On the other hand, there may be other websites covered when we visit fields, such as China. In addition, even if nothing is covered, if we are to use WiFi connection from hostels or other public places, we must protect our VPN communication. In our travel experience, the two best are ExpressVPN and NordVPN, although it is already up to the user to choose one that suits them. If you've never tried one, Tunnelbear, owned by McAfee, is free and easy to learn how a VPN works.
Now, it's time to look at travel and accommodation
Once we know where we are going, choose how will we go and where will we sleep. Here are two clear plans for the queen. First, we have a Skyscanner, either we won't use it as you think. In case you didn't know him, Skyscanner is one of the most well-known applications when it comes to flying. Just enter your destination and the dates on which the different flights will appear.
However, in server experience, Skyscanner always has the best prices, and in many cases it's good to know companies that offer less expensive airlines. Why? So that, after searching for a flight to Skystanner, look it up later on the airline. Most of the time, from the airline itself we get a better price, so our use of Skycanner is more focused on comparing between company prices.
Flixbus is another European travel option, with cheaper rates and buses with free WiFi
If we want to choose something cheaper, the best option is Flixbus, one of the best bus ride in European territory. Through its use, we can manage bookings properly.
In terms of accommodation, booking is one of the best options for managing reservations, although we have other options such as Hotel Offers (quiet, even though the name includes hostels and hotels) also serve the same purpose.
Look carefully at where you are going and where you are going
Traveling in a world we don't know can be difficult, or not. Google Maps is one of our favorite options when it comes to seeing where we are traveling through a new country. Sample souvenirs, bars, restaurants and other places of interest although, in our experience, it is not the best option when using public transport.
When looking for public transit, Citymapper is one of the best applications. In our experience, it is more accurate than Maps with header schedules and metro or bus lines
Citymapper, in our opinion, one of the best options for using public transport in various parts of the world, even outside Europe. It tells us where the nearest bus / train is, the time it will take to get to our destination, and shows in real time where are we going and where we should go.
Payments abroad
In many parts of the European Union we can pay without a commission, as long as we use the euro. However, if money is different, we have to establish that, as far as possible, our bank will apply some form of commission to us. This is usually not very high (a few cents in a good portion of cases), but, if it does, it's easy to know other options without having to register abroad.
In this case, we recommend Revolut, as it allows us to earn anywhere in the world (up to 200 euros) without commissions. Similarly, it has a money converter, which allows us to save the commission that traditional banks often charge us for doing this work.
Using a limited bank account that is independent of your main account (where you have the most money and payouts) abroad is a good idea.
On the other hand, though Revolut is nothing more than a digital bank, with its IBAN affiliate, in its operation it is used as a card with a non-refundable balance. That, for example, if you go to the United Kingdom and have a budget of 200 euros, you can make a currency exchange and make the entire trip payment with that card, leaving your primary account innocent.
In the worst case (card merger), that the account is made up mainly of the lack of cash to pay overseas, if they can exchange our card, it can do little damage, as long as we use it as it shows. In addition, it's not wrong to have a currency exchange app, to control the currency of the sites you want to go to.
Time to go?
One of the best things about Android is the ability to install widgets on a large desktop. Several layers of customization allow adding a double clock, to control the time of the two countries. If this is not the case with our phone, or if we want to have more countries than the main desktop, then there are apps that handle this process.
World Clock is a simple, fun, yet effective app. It lets you add some clocks to our big screen, so we can control the time of the destination (it is important if we plan to contact our family or friends of our country), where there may be many hours of difference from where we are.
