Negotiations with the Spanish public administration are increasingly taking place digitally and less in person. This is why it is so important to have the digital certificate installed on your mobile, and now it’s finally simple. But there is many other procedures to be performed for which other applications are necessary.
One of the most important, at least for drivers, is MiDGT, which allows you to have everything related to the car in one place, from the date of the ITV to the car documentation, such as the technical inspection card or driving license. This is all pretty obvious, especially if you are a car owner.
But, What happens if we usually drive a vehicle but it is not in our name? In this case it is also obligatory to bring the documents or, better yet, make them available in the DGT application. Obviously The fact that it appears on our profile does not mean that there is a change in ownership or ownership thereof, but we may have your documentation.
How to share a car
This function is Also useful in cases where households own more than one vehicle and in which the same person does not always take the same car. This is why it is necessary to always carry the documents of all vehicles, in case you do not know which one you are going to take, or if you do not remember where the physical papers are or if they are damaged for some reason.
in the app only the person in whose name a car is registered can share its documentation. To do this, you must go to Side menu, by clicking on the icon with the three horizontal stripes in the upper left corner. There you need to enter the section My steps.
Inside is, under the section Vehicles, an option called Share documentation. This is the one to select. Immediately afterwards, a menu appears in which we must select whether we are on the mobile phone that is going to share the documentation or the one that is going to receive it. You must select according to the terminal in question.
On the car owner’s cell phone, he selects Share and in the terminal of the person who will drive the car without owning it, Receive. Then a text appears explaining the process, which will generate a QR code on the car owner’s cell phone and open the camera application in the case of the person who wants to drive it and have the documentation.
The next step is to select the vehicle in question. This is only relevant if a person has more than one vehicle in their name. Once selected, a QR code appears which must be read from the mobile phone of the person who wishes to have the documentation. From now on vehicle documentation will be in both profiles. An icon will appear on the main screen above the vehicle reminding you that its documentation is shared.
