Google Maps offers beta access to the Android app, but it’s currently sold out. Although this does not mean that it is impossible to register: it is enough to know the link to the invitation to enter the test group. As we said at the beginning, downloading the beta version comes with some risk as it is still experimental software. Although, in our experience, Google Maps Beta is generally as stable as the final version.
Let’s see what you need to get into the Google Maps test group.
- Access this link from a web browser. It doesn’t matter if it’s on computer or from your mobile.
- Sign in to your Google account if prompted.
- Click on the button “Become a tester” (become a tester). You will already be in the beta program.
- Now click on the link “Download it on Google Play” and you can install the trial version.
- From then on, all Google Maps updates will be in beta. Remember that in addition to trying new things before everyone else, you you may experience more errors than others. These are the risks of the experimental versions.
- In case you want to leave the test group, just go to the Google Play file and click on “Leave”, under “You are a beta tester”.
Although Google Maps does not offer direct access to the test applications, it is possible to continue to participate simply by knowing the direct link to the invitation. And it’s worth knowing: often releases features that take time to reach stable releases.
