The Notes app is where we keep all of our notes. It can be just a few ideas for our next novel or the list of steps to follow when preparing for a trip. In any case, in use, it is common for us to be in front of a good amount of notes that you have to be able to order.

This is where Folders come in, but especially Smart Folders, which are vastly improved in iOS 16. they gather content following the settings we have configuredso that they are always updated and ready for us to find what we are looking for in them.

A filter of our information to find it easily

Create a smart folder in the Notes app is the easiest. First, let’s make sure that iOS 16 is installed on our iPhone. From there, the steps are as follows:

  1. We open the Notes app on our iPhone.
  2. If it appears, we touch the button < Folders top right to see the full list.
  3. We touch the button in the form of a folder and a “+” symbol at the bottom left.
  4. we touch Convert to Smart Folder.

Arrived here we have several options. The first thing we should pay attention to is whether we want to include the elements that match all filters or one of them. This is something we will adjust up top.

So you can choose to filter the notes according to tags, date created, date edited, if they’re shared, if they’ve mentioned us, if they have lists or attachments, if they’re quick notes, s ‘they are pinned or blocked and even specifically exclude or include certain folders.

By touching each of the filters we can customize it according to the content we want to take into account. After you have finished configuring the different options, we touch OKAY and write a name for the folder by pressing new smart folder. When we’re done we touch OKAY.

We will see that the smart folders appear in our list of folders preceded by the symbol of a gear. Thanks to this, we can quickly distinguish them from normal folders. If later we want to modify the filters of any smart folder, we just have to enter the folder in question, touch the button in the form of three dots and touch Edit Smart Folder.

Finally, knowing that we can delete smart folders as we normally would, by swiping the folder to the left. Remember that as this is a simple content filter, “contained” notes will not be removed.
