Few stories are as tragic in the world of Android as the one told by the rise and fall of HTC, a manufacturer that started out building devices for other brands and rose to the top hand in hand with Google, then almost disappeared as a company.
However, with the rise of the metaverse, it seems that the firm wants to revive its high-end smartphone strategy.
HTC will create a high-end smartphone and announce it soon
It was HTC’s Vice President of Asia-Pacific, Charles Huang, as reported by WinFuture today, who said at Mobile World Congress that his company will introduce a high-end smartphone next April.
The company’s intention is to approach the Metaverse with this model, just like they did with the HTC Exodus 1 in 2018 in the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
It’s quite a change in strategy given that the company has confirmed that it is moving away from the world of smartphones to focus on virtual reality and augmented reality.
Viverse, HTC’s metaverse
In the presentation in which the mobile was confirmed, the company announced Viverse, its entry into the metaverse, focused on access with its HTC Vive virtual reality glasses.
In fact, the mobile will also be a gateway for normal users to the universe they have created at HTC. There isn’t much information about the HTC-designed space just yet, but we guess we’ll have more data when the mobile is announced.
