During the last MWC, Huawei introduced its first phone, the Huawei Mate X, although it is still not sold in many countries. In October last year, taking advantage of our launch in China, the company announced that in March it would launch new wrap, Huawei Mate Xs, with the same features as the original Mate X, but with the on-board Kirin 990 5G processor and other improvements.
The cancellation of the MWC has not stopped Huawei from continuing its plans and today, as expected for days, the official launch of Huawei Mate Xs will be launched in the market for a few weeks. Let's take a look similarities and – to a few – differences among the wrap-ups that Huawei has made so far.

Same look, different brains
Both the Huawei Mate X and Huawei Mate Xs have a diagonal OLED screen that measures 6.39 inches at the back and 6.6 inches at the front. When moved, the total area occupied by the panel is 8-inch digonal. The Chinese company is also betting on direct "external" installation, but confirms that, in the new model, developed a flexible screen and its processes to achieve maximum stability.
Where we get the jump is in the processor: Huawei Mate Xs mounts a Kirin 990 with 5G integrated modem, unlike its predecessor, which featured the Kirin 980 modem and the 5G Balong 5000. This, according to Huawei, leads to increased power, lower usage and marked improvement in Artificial Intelligence.
The 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage Internal expansion with the 256 GB NMCard card is the same in both terms. The operating system, however, is introducing changes, because, beyond the stage to the next generation of EMUI and Android, Huawei Mate XS arrives without Google Services (GMS) installed.
One and four sensors have already appeared
The biggest difference for the Mate Xs in relation to the previous Huawei wrap is found in its graphics system. The Mate X had a single camera built by a 40 megapixel main sensor with aperture f / 1.8, wide angle of 16 megapixel aferture f / 2.2 and 8 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a mex image stabilizer.
For all this, Huawei Mate Xs add a fourth ToF sensor (Time-flight) to improve the footage, to get a quadruple camera and that works like the front camera when the phone is rolling.
The 4,500 mAh battery with 55 W fast charging is the same in both models, alike a fingerprint reader and connectivity: Dual 5G / 4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. Both phones are so similar that even the size and weight are the same.
