Huawei is renewing its range of tablets with a model that revisits the last one launched by the brand in 2023: the Huawei MatePad 11.5″S arrives in Europe to become a good choice for those looking for a device with a large screen, with good finishes and that offers powerful sound.
The Android tablet segment is not very large, although there are sufficiently representative models. And Huawei has managed to carve out a niche for itself in this market, even despite the difficulties linked to the exclusion of Google services: MatePads with HarmonyOS are enough and more than enough to become a excellent study and/or entertainment support. So, after a first Huawei MatePad 11.5 which left us with very good feelings, it is now the turn of its “S” variant.

Thin, light and perfect for taking notes
The new Huawei MatePad 11.5″S is a tablet with a metal body and an ultra-thin design that is precisely committed to reducing thickness: only 6.2mm (for comparison, the iPad Pro (2024) goes to 5.1mm). A sleek design, somewhat generous bezels, and a paper-like matte finish for the screen that helps convey that writing-medium feel.
Speaking of the screen: the Huawei MatePad 11.5″S integrates a 11.5-inch IPS LCD panel with 144Hz maximum refresh rate, a resolution of 2.8K (2800 × 1840 pixels) and a maximum brightness for HDR content of 1000 nits. We don’t know what processor Huawei has (we know it’s eight cores). And the memory is divided into 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. There is no possibility of extending it.
In the photography department, the new tablet offers an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. As a support for video calls, they shouldn’t pose any problems, nor for some sporadic photos.
The Huawei MatePad 11.5″S offers NearLink connectivity to improve synchronization and response with accessories, such as the new drawing and writing pen, the third generation M-Pencil and the magnetic keyboard case. HarmonyOS is suitable for using these accessories: the system offers multi-windows to different creation and editing tools. The pencil and keyboard must be purchased separately (currently Huawei offers them).
Let’s move on to the battery: it is 8,800 mAh, fast charging is 22.5 W and Huawei does not include the charger in the box. The tablet offers an audio system with four speakers.
Huawei MatePad 11.5″S price and availability
The tablet is now available in Europe and can be purchased directly from the Huawei website. It has a price of 399 dollars and includes the Spanish keyboard case and the M-Pencil as a gift.
