Google phones, named Google Pixelare the benchmark on Android for having the purest software, a camera app that works like magic (even on non-compatible mobile phones) and update support that has now reached seven years.
They’re not perfect, like any other smartphone, and one of their drawbacks on the operating system side is Google’s recommendations, which get a bit tedious, especially considering they appear on the home screen and in the app drawer. Luckily, we can eliminate them: this is how it is possible to proceed.
How to Turn Off App Recommendations on Google Pixel
While the Pixel software is very close to Android itself (AOSP), Google’s suite of services goes beyond the pre-installed apps, with a home screen and launcher this house app recommendations. In order to make it more personalized, the launcher options consider disabling these suggestions.
It’s not that these suggestions are too intrusive or run full screen like an internet ad, no, but yes. take up space unnecessarily in various sections of the system. Are you looking to erase them from the map? In a few simple steps, we will achieve this:
- Tap any empty space on your home screen.
- Click on “Home Screen Settings”.
- In the next section, turn off the “Recent App Suggestions” switch: this will hide the row of apps we used last.
- Next, go to the “Suggestions” section. You can turn off suggestions in the app drawer (called “all apps list”. Also the ones that replace apps in the dock with “Suggestions on the home screen”).
Finally, if we access the “Blocked Applications” and mark one of our applications, they will not be recommended in the previous places. Better yet, Google gives us the possibility to customize these settings in detail.
Are those app suggestions on the home screen bothering us? We can only leave them in the application drawer. Does it happen the other way around? Remove them from the apps list and keep them on the home screen.
You can also combine the home screen suggestions with your favorite apps. To do this, simply drag the icon of the chosen application and drop it on the dock. Thus, it will replace one of the suggestions, coexisting with the other three.
Of course, if you want to improve the Pixel’s recommendations, the most important thing will be uninstall all those apps we don’t use. This way, they will obviously stop appearing and we will thus obtain more relevant suggestions for our use.
